A new Weston development offers maintenance free living for the over 55 set and respects the environment.

Highland Real Estate Development brings eco-friendly technology to Highland Meadows in Weston, MA.  Sixty nine single family homes and town homes are being built within forty-four acres of woods, fields and beautifully landscaped grounds. 

The lush property is irrigated by a system that utilizes a network of underground pipes and tanks that collects and stores rainwater runoff from roofs to be used to supplement the development’s well water.  The rain runoff from more contaminated sources such as driveways, lawns and streets is directed through filtering vegetation then an adiitonal filtering system of tanks before being returned to the natural water table. Waste water from the property is routed through an on-site treatment system that makes the water potable although it is then routed to a leaching filed and returned to the environment.  The technology being employed at Highland Meadows is popular in areas of the country where water shortages are common, but is rare in Massachusetts residential development.  The commitment to environmentally friendly construction helped the project win town approval and is the first to be built under Weston’s Active Adult Residential Developmental District  bylaw, approved in 2005 by Town Meeting.  Seven of the sixty-nine units will be designated as affordable housing, helping Weston come closer to the state govenment goal of 10% of total housing for communities throughout the Commonwealth. 

All of the residences at Highland Meadows feature open floor plans, first floor master suites and two car garages.  The single family homes range from 2,985 square feet to over 4,000 square feet of living space.  The town homes are between 2,400 and 2,900 square feet.  The pre-construction price for the single family properties begins at $1,625,000 and for the town homes at $1,295,000.

Amenities include a community Meetinghouse which features a fitness spa with cardio and weight training, a Pilates studio and massage therapy room.  There will be a Gourmet teaching and catering kitchen, billiard room, fireplaced great room, a terrace with an outdoor fireplace and tennis court. 

Highland Meadows is on Highland Street one of Weston’s most beautiful scenic roads.  It offers a convenient commute to and from Boston, and Wellesley, and is within walking distance to the quintessentially New England Weston Town Town Center.
