For a Change, Try Jamaica Plain, MA Restaurants

A city experience, great food, and free parking, along JP's main streets

If you’re looking for new restaurants to try, and aren’t up to searching for parking in Back Bay or the South End, you might consider Jamaica Plain.  Park in the large, free lot behind Centre Street off Burroughs Street, and walk to any of a dozen restaurants serving everything from great burgers to sushi to pad thai, all at prices far less than you’ll find downtown.   Among our favorites are Cafe D (711 Centre St.) for eclectic, innovative casual fare and great drinks (the fish tacos are fabulous), Ten Tables (597 Centre St.), a tiny jewel of a spot with, yes, only 10 tables, for elegant, delicious and unusual fare, and Alchemist (a bit further down the road at 435 S. Huntington) for its inexpensive and delicious pub-style menu and local scene.

And for dessert, stop in a JP Licks (659 Centre St.) for some of the best ice cream in town.
