Wellesley Mothers Forum Team in “Race for the Cure” Hopes to Surpass $100,000!

The Race on Sunday, September 23rd will mark an important milestone for the Wellesley Mothers Forum (WMF).

Wellesley Mothers Forum (WMF) is once again gearing up for the 15th Annual Komen Massachusetts Race for the Cure 5k—a special event that supports Susan G. Komen for the Cure, the world’s largest source of nonprofit funds dedicated to curing breast cancer at every stage—from the causes, to the cures, to the pain and anxiety of every moment in between.

So far, Team WMF has raised close to $80,000 and this is the year the group hopes to reach an overall fundraising mark of $100,000. For the last several years the team has won a spot among the top two team fundraisers in Boston, with several team members also winning awards as highest individual fundraisers.

To help reach this important milestone, Team WMF is asking for support from the residents of Wellesley in any amount. Here’s how you can help support Team WMF:

To donate to a specific team member: go to http://www.komenmassrace.org/ and select “Sponsor Participant.” You then enter their name to donate online.

To make a general team donation online: go to http://www.komenmassrace.org/ and look for the “Team Rank” box on the lower right-hand side of the homepage. Click on the “More” link in that box and you will see a list of all teams. Scroll down the list and click on Team Wellesley Mothers Forum. You will then be taken to the WMF’s general team donation page, where you can make a general online donation.

To make a general team donation by mail: Please mail a check made out to Race for the Cure to the WMF mailbox at P.O. Box 812023, Wellesley, MA 02482.

Without a cure, 1 in 8 women in the U.S. will continue to be diagnosed with breast cancer—a devastating disease that will kill an estimated 1 million of these women over the next 25 years. As women—and as Wellesley residents—the WMF has made it their mission to help lower the number of diagnoses and stamp out breast cancer by continuing to help raise the money needed to fund ongoing research. Your support would be invaluable.

The team would like to thank a few of Wellesley’s local business for their generous donations: The Wellesley Bank, Pinnacle Residential Properties and Whole Foods Market.
