A Kid’s Guide to Weston’s Trails Describes “Cool Hikes” in Weston MA

Weston Girl Scout Troop 3064 Hiked Weston MA Trails and Wrote Guide

This past winter eight dedicated 9th graders who belong to Weston Girl Scout Troop 3064 helped the Weston Forest and Trail Association (WF&T) revise their trail map. From November 2006 to February 2007, the Girl Scouts took seven hikes covering 30 plus miles. Under the guidance of Steve Fogg, Weston Town Engineer, they collected Global Positioning System (GPS) data that will help to make the trail map more accurate. Based on their amazing experience they wrote A Kid’s Guide to Weston’s Trails. As the girls say on the WF&T website, they hope that “kids of all ages” will enjoy the hikes. As a result of their efforts, they earned the Silver Award which is “the second highest award in Girl Scouting and it demands that each girl spend 40 hours completing a community oriented project.”
