Neighborhood Spotlight in Wellesley, MA

The Charm of Poets' Corner in Wellesley MA

Streets such as Emerson, Longfellow, Tennyson, Thackeray and Kipling gave this special Wellesley neighborhood its name. The Poets’ neighborhood, or Poets’ Corner as it is frequently referred to, is conveniently located close to Wellesley’s new Recreation Center and just a short drive to all the major commuter routes.

Especially popular with young families, this charming sought-after neighborhood is a friendly, close-knit community.  On a sunny day its streets are packed with children, bikes and young mothers with strollers.  For many walking to the Schofield elementary school is a viable option.

From the Real Estate point of view, many of the homes in Poets’ were built in the 1930’s and 40’s.  Many have been renovated and expanded, some were snapped up, torn down and replaced with beautiful new construction, the remainder provide an opportunity for refurbishment and are an excellent investment.

In the past 12 months about 13 homes have sold in Poets’ Corner and prices have ranged from approximaately $600,000 to $1.5m.  These figures are not exact since they do not include homes that sold privately without ever offically coming on the market.

At this time there are several properties that are on the market in the Poets’ neighborhood.  Please contact me if you would like some further information on these or homes in any other special Wellesley neighborhood.
