Needham, MA Public Library Wins Design Award
Needham, MA Library named Public Project of the year
The new and improved Needham Public Library on Highland Avenue was recently named the Public Project of the Year by the New England chapter of the Construction Management Association of America. The $15.7 million renovation and addition project which was completed in 2006 came in first place in the $10 million to $50 million category. The library received kudos for its enviornmentally friendly building standards; cost efficiency; nautical interior design which was inspired by the library’s N.C. Wyeth art collection; and the juxtaposition of contemporary architectural design elements with the original 1915 building.
The new library has generated a buzz around town with its open spaces, art gallery, computer accessability and wide range of monthly lectures, films and offerings. To find out what is happenning at the library visit the website at http://www.needhamma.gov/index.asp?nid=346
